How MateDolly earns money — in plain language
MateDolly participates in affiliate advertising programs. When you click certain links on this site and buy a product, we may earn a commission from the retailer. You never pay extra for this — the price is exactly what you'd pay going directly.
This page explains what that means for how we write, because "reader-supported" should be a promise, not a slogan.
The programs we use
MateDolly earns commissions through affiliate programs operated by or for the retailers and brands we link to, which may include Amazon and its regional storefronts, and affiliate networks that represent beauty retailers and brands. The exact partners change as programs open and close; the rule below does not.
What commissions do — and don't — change
- They don't change rankings. A product's position in a guide is decided on the published criteria in that guide: formulation, ingredients, shade or size range, and fit for the reader scenario described.
- They don't change your price. Affiliate links carry a tracking code, nothing else. The retailer's price, discounts, and shipping are identical.
- They don't buy coverage. Brands cannot pay for inclusion, placement, or a positive verdict. Samples, when accepted, are disclosed and guarantee nothing.
- They do keep the site free. Commissions fund the research time behind these guides so we don't need pop-ups, sponsored posts, or paywalls.
Honesty rules we publish by
1. We never invent prices, ratings, discounts, or test results. Product information comes from official brand and retailer pages, and prices are shown at the retailer when you click — not frozen in our articles. 2. Every product card includes downsides next to strengths. 3. If a product is reformulated or discontinued, we update or remove it when we learn of the change. Email [email protected] if you spot one.
Identification
Pages that contain affiliate links carry a disclosure near the top as well as in the site footer, in bold, where you can't miss it. If you ever find a commercial link on MateDolly that isn't covered by this disclosure, tell us and we'll fix it the same week.
